YH Kodit is aiming to build its first Swan-labeled apartment building in Turku

The Swan Label Ensures Sustainable Construction
The Swan label is the official Nordic environmental certification, awarded only to environmentally friendly and sustainably produced products and services. This certification guarantees that the building meets strict environmental standards, including energy efficiency, eco-friendly materials, and minimal chemical use. The criteria ensure the building is environmentally responsible throughout its life cycle.

 Features of the New Apartment Building

• Energy Efficiency: The building utilizes the latest technologies to save energy, including solar panels, heat recovery systems, and effective insulation solutions.
• Eco-Friendly Materials: Construction materials are selected based on their low environmental impact, favoring renewable resources.
• Daylight Access: The brightness of the apartments is a key design focus—natural light is utilized while avoiding direct sun exposure.
• Indoor Air Quality: Special attention is given to healthy indoor air, using low-emission materials and efficient ventilation.

 Wellbeing for Residents and the Environment
“A Swan-labeled apartment building not only protects the environment but also provides residents with a healthy and pleasant living environment. Lipponen adds: “Skanssi is at the forefront of sustainable construction, and we’ll continue to invest in eco-friendly solutions. In previous buildings, we’ve used solar panels and energy piles for preheating and cooling ventilation air.”

 Construction Timeline and Completion
The building is expected to be completed in summer 2025. Apartments are now open for applications, with the application period ending January 28, 2025. Explore the apartments and submit your application. Progress on the site is moving at a good pace, and Swan label criteria have been incorporated from the planning stage. The project is being built by Jatke Länsi-Suomi Oy, with architectural design by Haroma & Partners Oy.
