YH Homes uses smart building technology to monitor average apartment temperatures. Most units are equipped with remote temperature sensors that provide accurate, reliable data. This allows swift responses if any apartment’s temperature drops too low or rises unusually high. However, it’s worth noting that the measurement comes from just one spot in the apartment—internal temperature variations can't currently be tracked remotely.

 The Goal: Consistent and Comfortable Temperatures

The aim is for all homes to reach a steady, pleasant temperature. This even distribution also supports energy conservation. In fact, several properties have improved temperature balance and raised average warmth without increasing heat supply—just by optimizing internal adjustments.

 How Monitoring Works

YH Homes doesn’t monitor individual apartments in isolation. Instead, it focuses on temperature readings of units connected to the same heating line—usually vertical lines running throughout the building. If one line’s apartments show uneven temperatures compared to others, adjustments can be made using a line balancing technique. This regulates the water flow through each heating line: more water means more heat, and vice versa. When balanced, all homes receive the right amount of warmth, improving comfort and reducing overall energy consumption.

 Can Residents Monitor Their Own Temperature?

Yes—you can track your apartment’s temperature yourself. For accurate readings:

• Measure from the center of your living space, where airflow and heat are most balanced.
• Remember that temperature may vary across the apartment—floors and exterior walls tend to be cooler.

 What to Do If Your Home Feels Cold

Here’s a checklist to follow before contacting maintenance:

•  Make sure doors and windows are fully closed, and check seals for visible damage.
•  Test the thermostat by turning it fully open and then closed—this may release a stuck valve.
•  Know that a 30°C radiator can still efficiently heat a room, even if it feels cool to the touch.
•  Ensure radiators aren’t blocked by thick curtains or large furniture.
•  Switch air vents to winter mode (usually above windows or on outer walls), and ensure they aren’t covered.

If the issue persists, report it to your maintenance company. All resident reports are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. While not every report requires action, some adjustments can even be made remotely. During onsite checks, floors, windows, and seals are all inspected.
